The aim of the game is to win The Jokers Royal Flush, and the only way you can do that is by placing 1st to 5th, and recieving Ace to Ten as an award.

OR

Placing LAST and being awarded a JOKER

After every game results will be posted and the first person to get Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten will win a rolling Prize Pot.

Any person who wins the Joker can nominate it as any card they wish.
Any person who receives the same card 3 times can keep the original placing and receive an additional Joker that they can nominate.

And this is how the money works out:

Man, has my game been up and down. One minute I can get it right the next I get it right but donked out, soooooooo frustrating.

Usual case of take your time and catch them out I think.

Leagues doing Ok too, so happy with that and the girls :)

Setting myself a challenge, and I am not going to deposit at carbonpoker.com, but try and win some cash through freerolls, etc.

Changes Afoot at Poker.com

The news has spread that Poker.com has closed it's doors to new players, however this doesn't mean that there will be no more poker.com!

As an old customer you now have the choice to play on the old site or download their new site Carbonpoker.com.

It is believed that it has been done to help with advertising revenue.

But still at this time there is still some uncertainity amongst the poker community, as at the momement some questions haven't bee answered by the staff at Poker.com, something that is very unusual.

In a dark poker hole

I'm really struggling at the mo with my poker play.

Nothing I do doesn't seem to work, and it can be disheartening, but I'll plod on, and see if I can get out this dark poker hole.

Had fun last night in the affiliate game, met some nice folks on the table, but ended up 15th. But there's always next month and thanks to Ellen@poker.com, for getting my coupon to me, just in time.:)

The Quad Queens, havent faired that well either in the League, and tomorrow game will be the last one of the season. And we have lost one of our players LadyLuck2468. She has got family stuff to do, and family should always come first.
And this isn't just from me but all the girls too, we wish her all the success for the future and we hope she will stop by sometimes and see how we are doing.

What exactley are we eating?

Being a keen gardener, and its coming upto that time of year to think about cleaning the greenhouse out, actually no thats wrong, saving the greenhouse, its suffering from a lot of storm damage.
I have got my stock of seeds ready and prepared, and thinking about getting some early Tomato's sown.

I love home grown food, and we wasted a lot last year because we didnt have the right storage for it, but that has been sorted for this year. And I am determind to get this garden into proper working order this year, instead of just fathing about.

We're a pretty healthy family and we do insist the kids eat veg on a very regular basis. But it does pose the question what exactley are we eating.

Fresh veg isn't the same as it used to be. Lets take tomato's for instance.

Tomato's off the vine, can go off after a week, but store bought tom's last for months at the back of the fridge.
To me that doesn't seem right, we understand that our meat is processed to the hilt, but to imagine that veg is good for you but last for months when it should'nt is a little worrying in my opinion.

So wellies on, fork in hand and plenty of good muck, I'm gonna try and a good years amount of veg out of the garden.

OK, usually it is good for you. But this Saturday saw a visit to the hospital with a badly twisted ankle for the youngest one, after a freak kick and twist on the football pitch. 45 minutes waiting for a nurse to say,'your mum, you decide what to do!'
In fairness I think the propsect of waiting 3hrs to see the emergancy doctor, had the nurse posing this question.
So we came home, adn he got ice packed and elevated. Result a nice shiney black and blue bruise covering his ankle and half of his foot.
By the way the result was 1-1, so quite happy with the result that day:).

A while back I used to visit anothe poker room. But they had loads of problems with it crashing, so I left. Not that it didn't enjoy the company of the poker folks there.
Yhis week I received a e-mail off them with a small amount of cash going free into my account.

Very nice I thought and went and entered a tourney and came a surprising 2nd, though I must say the standard of play was very good and good strong hands won, so playing tight got me there.

However today when I went back into the site, I found that my balance was totally screwed up and alot of the money I had won had disappeared. Very disappointing, and I hope its just a small gliche.

Just got to wait and see what happens.

I would't mind staying at the site if they get it sorted out as its UK based and hopefully won't be effected by USA laws.

I'll keep you updated.

It makes me mad

With the neteller fiasco and the whole USA internet poker situation, I am beginning to feel it was about time everyone put the American government into its place.
The worse thing is its the whole of the country, the individuals that will suffer because of it.

It's not very often I get political, but I remember when 9/11 happened, there was a young woman on the tv asking why 'people hated her country so much', sadly the way that government conducts itself answers the question for her. It's not a personal attack against her, its an attack on the way the government can think it can rule the world. (I am not detracting from the horror that this sort of terrorism brings, for that would be holy unjust, least not to forget that there are many soldiers fighting for the right to be bring freedom).

Which leads to the old chestnut, land of the free, as long as you do as we say not do as we do. All ready pointed out isn't that Communism?

I can rant and rave about its double standards on gambling, porn and the amounts of money that seems to swap hands in that government, but it has been covered well now in many articles.

The mention of the USA getting involved in our (UK) banks dealings, really boils my blood. But I'm hoping that we can get through this, and basicially tell them where to stuff their views and options. A threat to vote to BNP in the next by-election or main election usually shifts our government into thinking twice with any dealing. (I'm not saying anyone should vote for them, they hold not virtue values as far as I can see, but just mentioning it, makes our government squirm enough to get things done. You only need to look in our recent past to see that).

I think if the worse comes to the worse I'll open up a bank account in a communist country transfer money in there and wait and see the USA government try and impose itselfon those countries instead, maybe they might get the message then.

Sorry for the break, but had some life stuff to do.

Poker has been up and down, and unfortunately more down than up at the mo, but hopefully get through the slump soon.

WJFC - The Lads did good this weekend, though lost. Their game is really improving and getting stronger. We unfortunately encountered a rather bias ref it seems, but thats football for yer, like poker hands, happens in real life too the bad calls.

The BIG news over the last week was Poker.coms upgrade.
Being a beta tester for them, was an experience, and a nice heads up before proper play began.
As per normal there was a couple of bugs, but its looking good now.
I'll do a proper write up soon, so you can catch up with the new developements.

I also have some family news but I can't write about that at the mo, but when I can I will :)

You won't believe this, but just as I posted the phone rang and I spoke to the tech chap, who comfirmed straight away that something was wrong with the computer.

RED LIGHTS, mean something is wrong - remember this!

He got in contact with the manufacturer and store and they are footing the bill for it to be sorted out.

WooHoo, thank you David D for listening and understanding the problem, without placing blame onto me.

For those who know me on-line, you are well aware that I am fairly laid back, very polite, always fair and when needs be very diplomatic. So why is it in life, people think they can treat you like shit?

I have had an awful morning due to a UK company that can't get their heads out of their own arses. You can tell by now, that I am steaming and a tad upset.

When I am 'right', I argue to the death, some see it a bit of a blight, but if I don't stick up for myself then who will?

In November I bought a new computer with a flat screen to go with it, and it was to be my daughters christams present, however, my own conked out, and is very ill. So we decided instead, that we buy her a laptop and that I would have the new computer. (Two weeks had lapsed by now).
I took it out of the box and because it has areas that can easily scratch, I left the cling film covering on those areas. Then placed it into my solid wood computer desk.

Ok the easy bits done just got to install, make back up disk, install internet, security etc etc and off we go. Easy peesy.

Hmmmmm, seems a bit slower than my last one, but hey, I'm using a different security set up than before, sooooooooo..........

2 weeks down the line, Christams arrives and I start to notice the mouse doesnt seem to work right. Click, click, click, for just one action. Maybe because it an old style roller ball one. But I carry on using it.

Come last night, I've had enough, and the computer is now very slow. So I decide to put my old infer red mouse in the unit. Out comes the unit, in goes the new mouse, and then just as I'm about to put the unit back into the desk I noticed that on the top there is a red light flashing, something I had never seen before.

Being nosy and just about seeing through the cling film I can see an icon, something like a 'dustbin' next to the light, 'what that?'. Then, eek, 'WHAT THAT?'. There is a mark under the cling film, peelig it back carefully, it reveals that there is a crack about an inch long, along the top!

OK something is not right here.

Off to the shop I go, with the unit under my arm. Customer service department. The guy behind the counter is not impressed, and basically says there is nothing he can do, since 28 days have lapsed. And that it should have been bought back before now. That's crap as far as I'm concerned. I explain to him that you can't see the crack as the film in over it, and actually you can only see it in a certain light, he still wouldn't budge. OK fair enough I'll speak to the manager then. The Manager arrives and says the same, I tell him the policy stinks, and also that remember this a product that was bought for Christmas, as many parents do they don't leave it close to Christmas to buy big pressies like this, still nothing. I'm mad now. And get the distinct impression they are calling me a liar and that I must have cracked it myself. The Manager in the end says get in touch with the manufacturer, as they don't repair items at the shop, this makes me laugh, this outlet is one of the biggest in the country.

Steaming is how I feel walking out of there, followed by my mum, who is loudly saying that no more items would be bought from the shop:) (Got to love mums).

Back home, OK try the manufacturer. On the phone, explain the situation, and still nothing, except, and wait for this, an engineer would be out within the next 24hrs to fix it, but I would be charged for parts. I DON'T THINK SO!
And why would I be charged, 'Because I can't prove that I didn't do it'

Conversation over.

Really pissed now, so I get the phone number for the head office, of the company that I bought this computer off. I get through to a nice young lady who puts me through to the Investigation Office.
Explained again the situation, and yet again you get the distinct impression he is accusing me of cracking the unit. We go back and forth for about 10 minutes, neither one of us giving in.
He was convinced, that none of their products arrive to their shops damaged because they are packed in polystryne. Of course how silly of me, polystryne the indestructable material, ha ha don't make me laugh.
'Fine, so you prove to me that none of your products don't arrive damaged!'
'I don't have to the onus is on you' he replied.

That did it........... I'd had enough.........

I asked for a replacement and he flatly refused, 'So there fore your company sells shoddy goods then', he refused to comment on that. There was no customer care at all there.

My parting words were, 'I'll get in touch with Watchdog then' (TV comsumer programme)I received a nice curt and loud 'FINE' down the phone has I ended the phone call.

And thats what I have done, reported them to Watchdog. Somethign may happen, something may not. It'll be a case of wait and see.

And if the engineer tries to charge me for parts, he will find that I will refuse and tell them to send them to *****.. The company that thinks all customers are liars and that polystyrne can stop damage to their products.

Well looks like all sites are suffering from this infliction. Change of style of play on my part may well be needed, and honed.

And in other areas of poker life the Quad Queens havent started the League to badly. Nice scores in the MTT and a great 3rd place for fromafar in the first sng, however myself and Ladyluck crashed out in bad positions in ours, so we're sitting joint 4th.

Frustration has lead to this

OK, I'm getting very frustrated at the moment at poker.com. Not at the site but at some of the hands that are being played. It seems to be donkey mania there at the mo, and when you want to play a true game of poker, this is very frustrating.

So..........

I've gone back to some of the old sites I used to play at to try my luck there. some have had small surprises for me, as there are some accounts still with money in, eek, fancy forgetting. Maybe it would be a good idea if everyone went back to their old sites to check out their accounts, you just never know!

I'll let you know what happens and if these sites are the same as poker.com for the doney fests

WJFC, is the football team that my 12 year old son plays for. And every Saturday barring everyone is well, we go and support them.

Today was the same as normal, though my son didn't play due to swollen glands, but all the same the team needs as much support as it can get.

Just like any grotty winters day in the UK, it was freezing and drizzling and flipping slippery underfoot. We ended up at the away pitch, which in places was quite boggy, with no shelter and hopping on the spot, to try and keep warm.

The boys had just finished a two week break from league games, (christmas break), and I have to say I was impressed in the way they played.

We're not the best team in the League, and sometimes our boys get so down-hearted, when things aren't going their way. And this is how the match went, the away team scored first, and the lads heads dipped.

After 10 minutes of encouragment 'shouting', which you have to do to make yourself heard, they really seemed to get their act together and played some intellectual football.

They were seeing areas to run into or pass and were communicating really well, something that has been lacking in the past.

First half over 1-0 to the away team/ or home team, depends how you want to read it. Then straight into 2nd half they score again, 2-0 now. But WJFC didn't give in and scored a cracking goal, half bycyle kick with an unusual angle, clipped the inside of the post and in.

The guys keep plodding along and continued to play their best but in the end, lost 4-1.

It isn't great when ths happens and no-one wants to lose, but if it had been a match of skill, possession and good attitude our team would have won hands down.

Roll on next week when we have to do it all again, in whatever weather, rain, snow and shine.

And remember that if you have a local youngsters team near you, go down and support them when you can, as many of these teams are run by volunteers and are always looking for funds. Plus you never know you might meet the next young star of football.

Nervous and Excited at the Same Time

I haven't played much over the last couple of days, because I am winding myself up over my new venture.

As I mentioned earlier I am thinking or trying to set up an internet business creating Wedding Invitations.

At times its been a frustrating slow process to get the ideas to fit and work properly. There's being perfect and there's being TOO perfect, an awful fault I have.
Also trying to get a website up and running, itsn't helping my nerves, and of course I know nothing about Web Design.

Also I have this awful knot in my stomach caused by doubt. Doubt is a horrible emotional, and sometimes hard to control. But I keep trying to push it back and just get on with things.

But at the same time, I'm very excited about it, and I can't wait to get it up and running.

I'm getting a lot of support from the other half, as he knows I'm very creative, and he wants me to expand the creative part of my life, though I do think he's hoping it will stop me from decorating the house all the way through again, something I do every year. I just can't help myself, lol.

Ok I think this has helped a bit, just making this post. I'll keep you updated and link the website to my blog when it is ready and hopefully some of you guys will comment on it for me, good or bad.

Everyone in this house is till in holiday mode, though the kids need to get their backsides into gear for school tomorrow.

I'm enjoying this time to fit in some extra poker. Though my gains are not that great in value, I'm quite happy with my play.

And Patience Paid Off

Continuing from the post below, and using patience when you come onto the final table in nineth and very low on chips, I sat back and waited for the impatient ones to play their game.

And made it to 3rd and being conservative with my play, the chip leader Helaco took 2nd placed player out and left just myself and him HU.

Now, HU, is a funny game to play, and having said many times I am no expert in it, but I do have a confidence that I try and use.

Again it was down to my patience and awaiting for Helaco to get impatient, however it wasn't his style of play, and we had what seemed an endless HU match.

It ended with myself getting very lucky on the river and winning. But my hat goes off to Helaco for a fantastic game and good sportsmanship :)

Remembering Basics

I've been playing online now for well over a year, and though I can say that I have definately learnt alot in this time, I suppose we should all take time and remember the basics of the game.

My game can really be swings and roundabouts, mainly because I think I can get away with it. Wrong......... experience doesnt count for everything.

Remembering the rules does and of course a a little bit of luck along the way helps too.

So when you have time, sit down and assess your game when you hit the 'lows' and start afresh as though you are a beginner. Its suprising what you remember and how to implement old gaming ideas to your new game.

And one of the most important basic is patience. Think Marathon instead of a hundred metre sprint.

Patience is a good tool to confuse players on a table and is often under estimated in its use. It doesn't mean you have to play tight either, but it often gives the impression that you are a tight high handed rank player.

Just something to think about.

I got shot 8 times today by BIG SLICK, and yes you read it right EIGHT times, and I was holding the gun, call it suicide on my part.

The AJ's, AQ's even the A10's suited or not, I can understand but A2 off suit, get out of the game dumbass, you don't belong there when I reraise the call.

I no longer love Slick, he stinks and is unfaithful...............

I Hate Shopping

Well had to do the annual after Christmas shop, otherwords the sale gauntlet.

Why do those that are on go slow all the time, insist on Sale shopping? When I shop I like to go on full pace at hundred miles an hour. Stop and start while the slow coaches infront stick their noses against every window pane. Arggggggghhhhhhhhhhh, get out off my way pleassssssse!
I know what I want, and where I want it from. Make special slow shopper lanes for them to trundle along, or even better make me a go fast lane to speed along :)

Why do UK shops insist that woman legs only go to 33 inch inside legs? Or that womans feet stop at 6 then only start again at a size 8?

Boxing Day Play

Well Christmas was fun and I got some great pressies. I think the kids did very well also, and they are busy playing and showing off new items.

And since they are busy doing that, I've thought I would take advantage of the low traffic and play some gaurantteed games, and the odd buy-in and so far, 2 Ft's out of four, which isnt bad at all, and my account looks quite healty.

Presents are wrapped, baking has been done, and with the exception of one scarf laddering at the last minute, everything is in place, ready for Christmas :)

Just in Time for a Turbo

OK 3hrs of christmas wrapping finished, so I'm sneaking a $1 turbo game, whilst the othe half watches the footie.
I'm gonna try and play it 'tight' and see what the poker gods have to offer me. To be honest a little win would be great too, as a bit of a boost to my game.

The first 9 hands slow as anything, and looks like we may have a bit of a hot head at the table!

Oh AA put in a 120 bet 459 rainbow - two of us in - he bets I raise, he follows then 9, he goes all in,
I know... I know... I know, you don't have to be a genius to work it out, he's hit trips 9's. So what to do? I'm going for it...All in and wham A on the river - WOW is all I can say. 2040 chips and 17/180. ( I am a fish)

Back to plodding along and a cheeky steal.. shh don't tell anyone ;)

Transferred, and going to try with a K9d hand....blinds 50/100 QcJc8s6c ahh man rubbish lol, fold is an easy choice. And believe it or not 2 pair win - no flush.
41/98 now, its the blinds eating me up, but keeping the faith.

Heck this is fast.. transferred again, not getting much of a read off the players when this happens. And of course pedaling backwards because of the blinds. 57/72, this is not looking good at the mo and blinds are 150/300. Straight into BB and dealt A2, got a small chance but 66 beats me, never mind had some fun, and 37th overall.

Back to the grind again tomorrow... Hopefully the 20K if I'm not asleep or drunk, lol :)

Knitting and Poker

I kid you not.

You know us girls can do 10 things at once, well I'm on a knitting mission before the 25th. Late orders came in for scarfs and hats, so knitting like a mad woman, clickerty, clackerty, the knitting needles goes. Driving everyone mad with the sound.

But hold on I have tourneys to play so what do I do?

Poker! or Knitting!

And you know what, I think its helping my game. I know that sounds daft, but instead of being maybe a bit too quick to bet an hand, I have to stop knitting and look up at the table properly. And study my cards in a bit more detail.

Do you think the guys and gals in the WSOP would take up this new trend?

3rd Time Lucky

I've sat down now and tried to do my blog for nearly a year, but yet I have never been happy with it.
Sooo,
This is my last shot. My 3rd time lucky blog. Well I best fill the gaps for those that don't know me and to bore the pants off those that do.
I'm a mum of 2, stepmum to 1, stepnana to 1 and nearly 14yrs long partner to my other half. I love Poker with a capital L, and I moderate at poker.com. I do have another life other than Poker, like setting up a small business, making cards and invitations, specialising hopefully in Wedding Invitations and all the fancies that go along with it.
I also enjoy playing darts, and blowing my own trumpet, I'm quite good at it as well. I absolutely enjoy designing anything, from the garden to next doors house. And another love of mine is Football. Not just the BIG boys game, Liverpool fan here, but the grassroots game. My son and daughter both play for the same Club, and I support them by being vocal on the Committee, on the sideline in all weathers and with my mum providing a tuck shop, to bring money to the Club.
I suppose the main reason I wanted to try blogging again was because of my Poker Life, but it doesn't mean other important things in my life won't be blogged along the way.
All Poker and NO play makes for a dull Blog.
